Excerpt from ClimaTalk:
COP26 and the Considerations of Ocean
Oceans cover 70% of the planet and are a major carbon sink. Coastal environments (inclusive of seagrass, coral reefs and mangroves) are also vital for conserving fish stocks and the livelihoods of people living on the coastlines. It is therefore unfortunate that the UK Presidency Programme for COP26 did not include a focused day on the oceans. However, discussions on ocean policy took place in the formal negotiation halls, pavilions and Green Zone.
